Beddington ERF
Reducing landfill waste in South London
Construction of the Beddington facility commenced in 2015, finishing commissioning in 2019.
The facility provides the South London Waste Partnership and regional businesses with a safe and cost-effective alternative to landfill. The facility is permitted to treat c.347,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste each year. It generates enough electricity to power the equivalent of 71,397 homes.
Let's take a look
The ERF has been designed to process around 347,422 tonnes of non-hazardous residual waste a year. Wider environmental benefits will include the landfill diversion of up to 95 per cent of waste delivered to the facility and the generation of up to 210GWh of electricity, which will power the facility itself and supply over 25MW to the National Grid. This is the equivalent of powering 59,025 homes.
