We’re committed to protecting the environment by boosting recycling and safely disposing of non-recycled waste.

Our ambitious decarbonisation strategy sets out how we aim to become carbon neutral across our core operations by 2040 and, by 2045, remove more human related carbon emissions than our operations produce, becoming climate positive and helping the UK achieve its net zero goals.

Tackling the climate crisis requires bold action, and this pledge underlines Viridor’s ambition to drive the UK waste sector on its path to decarbonisation. We are committed to doing everything in our power to achieve net zero and net negative emissions.

Our Commitments

To be carbon neutral across our core operations by 2040

We define carbon neutrality as removing equal amounts of carbon dioxide from our EfW sites as we emit in our core operations, via Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

To be climate positive by 2045

We define climate positive as going beyond carbon neutrality, removing more carbon dioxide from our EfW sites than the total fossil carbon emissions we produce via Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
