Viridor has been awarded an EcoVadis Platinum medal for the second consecutive year

Viridor has been awarded an EcoVadis Platinum medal for the second consecutive year, placing the company in the top 1% of organisations assessed globally. 

EcoVadis is an independent sustainability ratings provider that assesses companies across four themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Its medals are awarded by percentile rather than against a fixed score, and are recalculated against every company assessed in the preceding twelve months. Platinum requires a percentile rank of 99 or above. Because the assessed population grows and improves each year, retaining a Platinum rating requires demonstrable progress rather than continuity. 

The assessment examines management systems and evidence rather than commitments. Companies are asked to document policies, the actions taken to implement them, and the results those actions produce, with supporting evidence reviewed by EcoVadis analysts.

The rating is important to customers, local authority partners and suppliers because it is externally scored. Procurement teams across both the public and private sector increasingly ask for third-party sustainability assessments, and an EcoVadis scorecard offers a common basis for comparison between suppliers.
